Or how some won't think twice about blasting closely by a cyclist on a 2-way neighbourhood street, but NEED to drive in the opposite lane near parked cars... 🫠

It’s a byproduct of how comically large some vehicles have gotten, and the increasing prevalence of SUVs. Add in horrible spatial awareness lots of people have and their habit of driving their vehicles like semi trucks…

How dare ask for people driving around thousands of pounds of metal take any responsibility for paying attention to their surroundings. 🙄

Getting pretty tired of motorists magically converting 30 and 40 km/hr zones to miles per hour in order to overtake me on my bike. #yegbike #yeg

I really dislike how flippant some construction projects can be with totally blocking, closing off, or making active transport paths inaccessible without any notice. It would never fly in an equivalent situation with roads.

Me too! I've gone to them for at least the last 3 years and they've been great.

I literally see shit like this on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis, and it irks me to an irrational level.

I need to say a few words about Darren.
He was, in many ways, the doctor all doctors needed to be. Compassionate, caring, an advocate and a poet. We were all privliged to have him in our world.
And we are poorer for his departure from it.
Wherever you are, I hope there are paddles and pedals.

Hopefully they can at least put them at intersections to discourage wrong-way traffic. I only saw the section between 83 and 82 Ave today, though.

It appears that you are right. 😕 #yegbike #yeg

Speed bumps or raised crossings wherever there are slip lanes that intersect with shared-use paths (if they must) would be nice too. Since those seem to be the only things that actually get people to slow down.

The usual multi-use path experience. Not even a glance to check for anything but other vehicles. #yeg #yegbike

A new section of the west-side 111 Street shared-use path is pretty much done... but crossing at 34 Avenue is still a mess. #yegbike #yeg @yegbike.bsky.social

Such an amazing downtown!

Things you love to see. Pretty sure 80% of vehicles regularly speed through this construction zone. #yeg #yegbike

It appears that the section of Saddleback Road with a painted bike lane that people often use to shortcut between 23 Ave and 111 St in the SW is getting speed bumps installed. #yegbike #yeg
Road-cuts for speed bumps and constuction signage is observed along a roadway

Who thought it was a good idea to fill potholes and cracks in bike lanes with a loose, gravely, chipseal mixture? Sigh. #yeg #yegbike

Work beginning on 100 Ave!

Unfortunately, this also affects travelling westbound along the shared-use path along 34 Ave towards 119 Street. #yegbike

Avoid the west-side crosswalk along 111 Street at 34 Ave NW. It's a mess of open trenches, torn up sidewalks, missing ramps and confusing detour signage leading to nowhere. #yegbike #yeg #yegwalk

I really, really don’t like that crossing. Trying to go south on the path coming from WB 100 Ave or turning to go EB from the path feels very sketchy, esp. with multiple lanes of traffic and the regularly disobeying of the no right on red signs.
