Which it did in the most satisfying way. It was slyly humorous. Lots and lots of pig imagery. Pigs in Heaven refers to the seven sisters constellation (I thought they were colleges). The Cherokee see them as six pigs. They were unruly boys who the gods turned into 🐷 and placed them in the night

Turtle go on the lam. This is when Taylor realizes she can’t do this alone (LOL, she needs a tribe). The book is about what is best for Turtle? To be with her people or with the mom to whom she is attached? A big question. And at this point I saw the answer but not how the book was to get there.

It’s a sequel to The Bean Trees which I read 30 plus years ago and loved. In that novel Taylor adopts a Native American toddler who has been abused and left in her car. She named her Turtle for the way the child held tight to her like a snapping turtle. In this novel she and 🐢 visit the Hoover dam

Book Review: Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver #Booksky The book that got away. Pretty sure I have read all of her novels except Demon Copperhead which has been in my TBR pile since the Christmas after it came out. This left me all happy and smiling. ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
