Did you know that there is a lunar crater named after Anton Pannekoek? It's at the far side of the moon so we can't see it through a telescope from earth. This photo was taken by the Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter. What's your favourite lunar feature? 🌔🔭

#OnThisDay in 1610, Galileo Galilei recorded the first mention of Jupiter's moons. At first thinking them to be fixed stars near the gas giant, his later observations revealed them to be orbiting Jupiter. Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto are now known as the Galilean moons. #HistoryOfScience

Happy new year! My all sky camera imaged the sky every 15 seconds and this picture shows what happened in the sky in 2025. It shows the length of the night and day with the hourglass shape, the monthly lunar cycle with the diagonal bands, the elevation of the Sun at local noon, and lots of clouds.

Their conclusion: Trump just wants the U.S. to look larger on a map

We have upgraded our geomagnetic forecast today (12 November 2025) to the highest intensity level amid an ongoing solar storm.

Current predictions suggest that the activity will result in potentially the largest solar storm to hit our planet in over two decades.

Here is the latest SWPC graphic regarding the recent X1.2 flare from AR 4274. Again, X-flares are not unusual around solar maximum, and Earth-directed CMEs of this caliber are not "dangerous." This is not a Carrington-class event by ANY means.
