The Fanjuls own a plantation called Central Romana. It was banned from sending products to the US from 2022 until the order was mysteriously lifted this year because CBP found five indicators of forced labor.

The problem was especially bad in San Francisco, the Uber guys seem horrible, but they unfortunately had a point that the taxi medallion system was bad and was producing serious negative externalities there

The protest was like church, basically.

Got up early on my day off to gather with a cross-section of my neighbors. Stood at the periphery, but joined in the chants and the singing. Passed the peace. Reaffirmed what we all believe. Got a tiny taste of something sacred.
