Still smiling after another amazing visit to Yasur volcano in Vanuatu just over a week ago. We were there to help VMGD install new infrasound microphones in their monitoring network, a vital tool for tracking eruptive activity.

An explosive #eruption of Hayli Gubbi #volcano, located SE of Erta'Ale in the Afar Rift (Ethiopia), began at ~08:30 UTC on Nov 23. Eruption onset was fortuitously captured by a @planet.com overpass at 08:31 UTC. Hayli Gubbi has no record of Holocene eruptions. Toulouse VAAC reporting ash to ~15 km.

Having text as 2 or 3 short bullet points on your slide will help deaf and HoH folks (such as myself) follow your talk as they might not be able to hear you.

Using earthquake data we image seismic velocity 'anomalies' at 7-12 km depth beneath geothermal systems, north of Taupō, New Zealand. We interpret the anomalies as representing crystal-rich partial melt – the deep heat sources driving the geothermal systems.
