Yes, it would be so futile to bring back the House

Because there’s no need to hold hearings, advance legislation, conduct oversight, swear in Adelita Grijalva, draft bills or-heaven forbid-negotiate with Democrats to end the shutdown

Yep. Completely useless.

... he's now violating section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution, too (or will do so any day now).

It's difficult to overstate the profound obliteration of the legal order here--and the acute threat to long-established norms for the use of force by all states.

And yet ... crickets.

The lower-court ruling is presumptively correct. It should be stayed only in extraordinary circumstances.

“Extraordinary” doesn’t mean “once-in-a-lifetime” (ooh, Talking Heads.

But it also doesn’t mean dozens of times in the course of one presidential administration.

This should be about the balance of hardships, in the absence of a pretty clear error of law.

Instead, we have a Court going out of its way (for the umpty-seventh time in nine months) to try to find a way to interfere in lower-court proceedings over Trump’s law-breaking.

Starting a new thread over here for the continuation of Commander Schoening's testimony.

Given what I've heard from the objections so far, attorneys for defendants don't seem like seasoned litigators. "This is becoming a narrative" is definitely not a legitimate objection.

This caught my eye today.

Wild dogs in the Chornobyl exclusion zone seem to have developed blue fur.

It could be a mutation brought about by the high radiation levels. The animals also seem to have developed tolerance to their environment.

A New Zealand-based insurance company run by a British family has been insuring sanctioned Russian and Iranian shadow fleet tankers.

These vessel allowed Russia and Iran to circumvent international sanctions on their oil.
Iran, Russia and the New Zealand insurer that kept their sanctioned oil flowing
A dark fleet of tankers carried tens of billions of dollars of Iranian and Russian oil to Asia, evading Western sanctions. Reuters found the ships were connected by one thing: a small insurance company in New Zealand, run by a British family.
