Those running Labour Party would benefit from not acting as though they hate a) their members b) a lot of their elected representatives and c) pretty moderate social liberals like me who are most of its voter coalition! Still, when they're polling <20% in locals, they might think again...

Idle thought: having a cask pint from v. Good and established NE brewery in Last Drop (York) It's great, well-conditioned, tasty. Pub has been excellent for quality last 4/5 times I've visited. Still, it's under 4.5%, £5.85 and while aware of pub's costs, wonder how sustainable all of this is...

After reading @totalcurtis.bsky.social piece in @pelliclemag.com, know 'Baby-Faced Assassin' gets a lot of love but I think 'Yankee' remains my favourite Rooster's beer. So it's nice to see it fresh in Market Cat now... a post-work tonic.

I just do not understand the political logic of promising a thing many of your supporters recoil from, many who don't recoil from it won't support you, and you likely can't deliver anyway.
Starmer claims the Tories “opened the borders deliberately” to disguise economic failure. “Absolutely unforgivable” he says. He vows to bring down legal and illegal migration but no numerical target (note: they’ve never worked in the past).
