i HOPE the authors of these articles are doing more investigating and thinking than reporting the "intent" of a machine designed to have manipulable (but siloed) priorities, but so many editors are so fucking stupid and/or optimizing only for clicks
there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

adding on to my last retweet - the security implications of sloppy code have been here for decades. they're unlikely to be catastrophic (see the Bangladesh bank robbery which was stopped quickly enough to avoid total disaster) but data leaks and big ransoms from corporations are par for the course
Can't wait for the loosened up, non-perfect, but quickly shipped AI-enhanced updates to hit my banking and insurance services next year.
Im sure there will be no issues there at all.
