I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Parks back in 1988 when, as a young TV producer, I booked him for an interview on a PBS public affairs program out of Providence, RI. I now live about an hour from where he was born - Fort Scott, KS. He was surely a great person and artist.

When you're talking about Gordon Parks, #botd in 1912, there's a lot to talk about. He may be remembered by many for Shaft, and as a groundbreaking filmmaker. But his career was so much larger: Author, filmmaker, poet, photojournalist, composer and more.
