Hello AoNZ/Māori/History Bluesky . Does anyone know anything about "The Māori Dentist" pictured here at Raetihi? High chance he would not be based there full time or actually a dentist as itinerant dentistry by anyone who could wield a pair of forceps was horrifyingly typical 😬😅

I found a young chicken at the train station and picked it up because it was trying to take shelter under a bus and brought it home to keep it safe. Won't be too upset if I can't find it's home tbh. It's very very cute.

REALLY hard to resist going down this rabbithole because my partner has just become obsessed with fishing kites and he's networking with a bunch of kite nerds and now we seem to be accumulating kites (I very much approve of this hobby).

If a wealthy sex offender donates a large amount of money to charity, should they be eligible for a reduced prison sentence?

A top King’s Counsel says it’s not unusual for a court to award a sentence discount for reparation or compensation.

Does that put a rich criminal in a better position at sentencing than someone with less money?

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

*BFRB (Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviour). Things like skin picking, hair plucking etc. Also pain seeking behaviours.

These behaviours are often injurious and almost always heavily stigmatised. However, they fulfil a sensory need, often during times of stress.
