New Year new Avatar! As fascism rears its ugly head in every western 'democracy' there is an urgent need to acknowledge that opposition is the only remedy - as it was in the time of Mussolini, Franco and Hitler - because the time for timidity and hesitation is over. ✊

Observers of politics: be aware of 'symbolic compliance' when demanding change/consequences for a political party or its members.

Rather than undertake real change, a political party will present the public with a few symbolic wins & gestural purges to satisfy their demands & distract them. #auspol

They helped the diggers during WW2 and Australia thanked them by doing nothing when Indonesia invaded in 1975. If that wasn't insult enough, Australia then planted bugs and stole their gas resources. President Ramos-Horta hasn't forgotten and he should tell you and Australia to fuck right off.
Australia’s relationship with our closest neighbours matters.

There’s so much potential in our region. Working together, we can make the most of it.

That’s why I’ve come to Timor-Leste today, and got straight to work meeting with President Ramos-Horta.

What things like the attempted terrorist attack in Perth and Scott's public Islamophobia speak to is the deep social division our governments and media have facilitated by the self-evident hypocrisy in how they've dealt with the past two years of domestic rupture arising from Israel/Gaza.

Albanese must lead a strong response to the Boorloo Day of Mourning bomb attack.

After the horror at Bondi we saw that leadership on violence and racism is possible with political will.

Racism is so entrenched in Australia that when someone throws a bomb into a peaceful protest, of 2000 First Nations Peoples and their allies, that we call it unacceptable instead of what it actually is, terrorism.
