🔴 NEW: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) used 3D scans from the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine in propaganda videos for its operations in Gaza, Iran and Syria.

Our latest: theferret.scot/idf-s...
Image description: A digital 3D model, displayed against a plain black background. White text above reads: “The Israel Defense Forces used a Scottish museum’s 3D models in propaganda videos.” The image is branded with The Ferret’s logo in the corner.

This week, our colleague Dr. Mark Bray came under attack by Turning Point USA’s Rutgers chapter for his public scholarship. Rutgers AAUP-AFT and the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union condemn this campaign and stand in solidarity with our colleagues. Read our full statement here: https://loom.ly/BDXasRY

yeah who knows what is going on in aberdeenshire, migrants only welcome if they're working on fishing boats for illegal wages

Falkirk, Peterhead and Aberdeen too. Stand up to Racism said there were 200 at the Peterhead anti-refugee demo yesterday and anti-racist demo was greatly outnumbered... Perth was just about evenly matched, albeit with quite a lot of SWP folk from Dundee & Glasgow bulking up the numbers!!

Off to Durham for the weekend. Mad seeing Reform-adjacent facebook posters trying to manufacture a culture war about a Palestinian speaker on the platform (while the local Reform admin has not been invited) - as if the mining unions engaging in international issues is somehow a new thing (it is not)

A fortnight ago, people in Royston turned out to protest against news a local building was being turned into an “illegal migrant hotel”.

The only problem? It was completely false. So what happened? @everebecca.bsky.social investigates

Whether by car, bike or on foot, if you've been near Cowcaddens subway station, you'll have likely seen the perma-works on the M8 that now blot the Woodside Viaduct.

With a completion date 'under review', motorists and residents alike have one question: when will they end?
Will the Woodside Viaduct works ever be completed?
Questions answered about Glasgow's most expensive repairs.

The Scottish history book review returns to the daily newspapers today with my review of @parcelorogues.bsky.social ‘s antifascist history, ‘Glasgow 1975.’ See The National, June 10th, pp. 20-21.

It is 50 years to the day, 24 May 1975, since the "Battle of Paisley Road" in Glasgow, as around 100 anti-fascists were arrested while blockading a National Front meeting. Many then escaped from prison and went straight back to the demo! As told in detail in my new book... glasgow1975.bigcartel.com

little did I know when I stumbled across a film set while heading up Ben Cruachan on a grey day in June 2021 that it was going to turn out to be one of The Great TV Shows (Andor). Incredible show all the way through.

Andor is just so good! Enjoying @seantcollins.com recaps. "It’s frankly astonishing how well [they] create a taut and tragic political action thriller, working within the contours of the Star Wars sensibility and aesthetic while making them feel fresh and new." decider.com/2025/05/07/a...

In 1975 a National Front fascist shot dead a Jamaican man, Hector Smith, in his home in Glasgow. Weeks later, over 100 trade unionists were arrested as they picketed an NF rally at Kingston Halls.

@parcelorogues.bsky.social’s new pamphlet tells the story. It was launched at a packed meeting!

what exactly radicalised the "offline" King Creosote? does he think the Fife Coastal Path is creeping ULEZ? The card machine at Anstruther Fish Bar a globalist conspiracy? The St Monan's Tidal Pool a chemtrail repository? www.heraldscotland.com/life_style/2...
