non-brits and young folk: don't sleep on this. Arena was an incredible documentary series on arts and culture. Hard to imagine how it could exist today.
If you know Paris is Burning, that was an Arena doc. So was the Wisconsin Death Trip film. So much gold here.
Big up Ben Wheatley, who has been creating and building a giant YouTube playlist of all the various BBC Arena documentaries from back in the day. It’s now featuring over 100 films. Loads of gold in here. youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Saw a film tonight with a production company that would've been an all timer Twitter header image in like 2015.

I really don't understand the point of performing arts journalism a lot of the time.

Read an article about a show that was published yesterday afternoon, show ends tonight and isn't playing anywhere else in the UK and the only tickets left are the most expensive ones.

Who is that article for?

Art galleries increasingly becoming book shops but only for a very predictable slice of contemporary fiction is such a silly development.

It gets dark early now and the country is raked by rain, so if you're the protagonist in an M John Harrison novel now is the right time of year to take a slow train to an unfamiliar town to check on an old friend who hasn't been doing so well

1970’s TV adaptation of a Carnacki story is laser focused to be exactly my shit.

Donald Pleasence as Carnacki in The Horse of the Invisible. (The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes, Thames TV, 1971).

A shame they didn't choose a better story but The Hog or The Gateway of the Monster would have required serious special effects.
