Europe must resist efforts by the Trump regime to force Ukraine into an unjust "peace deal" that would reward Russian aggression.

Such a deal would be disastrous for Ukraine and for Europe's security, requiring far higher defence spending in the future.

We would have thought this is obvious.

If Europe fails Ukraine, and Russia wins (with something like the Witkoff-Dmitriev proposal), European democracies will have to spend much more on defence in future to deter an aggressive Russia.

Appeasement of aggression just encourages further aggression.
⚡️Russian victory would cost Europe twice as much as supporting Ukraine, study finds.

A Russian military victory in Ukraine would cost Europe twice as much as a Ukrainian victory, according to a new study by Corisk and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs published on Nov. 25.

The so-called "peace deal" published last week is already revealed as a web of Russian deceit.

One of its objectives is clearly to derail the initiative to use frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine.

Europe must not fail Ukraine now.

Belgium should remember the sacrifices made for its freedom.

Populism does not solve our problems. It just offers a simple, convenient story.

In an opinion piece for @cambridgeindy.bsky.social, Cambridge for Europe committee member Camilla Cucinotta calls for us to reject the scapegoating of migrants by those seeking to divide and weaken our society.

The audio leak of Steve Witkoff advising the Russian side what to do, what to say and how to progress is nothing more but collaboration with Moscow, probably even more. It further confirms what I was writing on Sunday when the US Senators were actively rejected this.

We know Russian influence played a role in Brexit, but the Tory government didn't allow a full investigation.

Putin's ambitions to conquer Ukraine and recreate the Russian Empire pose a once-in-a-generation threat to the whole of Europe. We cannot allow Trump to reward his aggression.

The Prime Minister must use this opportunity to call for Russia to be removed from the G20.

Whatever the coming days bring, the lesson for Europe is clear.

Europe must never again be dependent on the US for defence and security.

Europe must quickly invest much more in defence capabilities - intelligence, weapons systems, nuclear deterrence - so that it can resist any potential aggressor.
