Who benefits from the abolition of stamp duty land tax?

The first answer: people buying very expensive homes. Average saving for someone buying a £10m+ home is £1.7m. Average saving for someone buying a £250k-£500k home is £5k.

"There’s still a long way to go." 💜

This #BlackHistoryMonth, Age UK storyteller Elaine sat down with us to discuss how she is keeping connected with her culture, inspirational figures, and why her children and grandchildren are her heroes. Read the full interview here: https://bit.ly/42ZQpPU

This is one of the most tragic things I've seen, how terrible for him and for his family.

I made the Mirror when Esther McVey replied to one of my tweets about her leaving her government post without any sanction, unlike benefit claimants do if they give up a job.

There's good evidence about how effective it can be to co-locate social welfare advice services in GP surgeries, so people can get advice on benefits, housing, social care etc. These things cause people real problems and it frees up so much GP time. 1 in 5 patients I've been told in one project.

I think it's pretty balmy out there on the basis of my walk to coffee shop just now.

Haha yes, our local kebab shop, Mr Muzzy's, stocked Carlsberg Special Brew in the chiller cabinet for after hours purchasing.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Thoughtful you say? There is some insane content.

Cut universal benefits completely. Means-test the State Pension (which is a contributory benefit paid for with NIC's). Everyone claiming Universal Credit subject to conditionality/job search. A lottery for UC claimants who look for work the most.
paulietandoori.bsky.social
Doesn't stack up as you don't need to be living in the UK in order to be entitled to and paid a UK State Pension.

Very disappointed with how passive the Bees set up and started today. Think we could/should have got more from this one but not to be 🐝😮‍💨
