As you are in the media, and a published writer …. Wouldn’t it be great to publish a book, or do a regular newspaper column or podcast, of profiles of people who will lose ILR and leave our country if the UK, under a Reform government, breaks its promise to them?

Our news agenda has been dominated by the US since November. It creates the mood music here &, because of the overly reverential way it’s often reported, it encourages imitation & a sense that this stuff isn’t as nutty (and scary) as it actually is. Thus Farage’s remigration announcement yesterday.

Worth remembering many people will be unfamiliar with terms like "indefinite leave to remain" and "settlement". People know what immigration is + citizenship, but settlement is less intuitive

So its important for those countering the proposals to put in schoolgate language what is being proposed
