Hello Bluesky! I have finally decided to move over here full time from the other place. Below you'll find pictures of my kitties. The last kitty (white cream) is the one my account is named after. Unfortunately she is no longer alive. For more information about my kitty family, read the ALT text.
GG is a 5 yo female former community cat w/a clipped left ear. She has short gray fur that is silver tipped that catches the sun. She became an indoor cat after she was hurt by an aggressive dog who broke her leg. GG was taken to an orthopedic vet who repaired her femur with plates and screws. After I took her home and spent 8 weeks helping her to recover post surgery and then helped her with physical therapy, this former feral girl started warming up to me. She then slowly integrated into our cat family. Now she is a sweet, happy girl with full mobility. In the picture GG is laying on a counter chair with her paw over her eyes so she can be near her humans while they eat. She never likes to be far from us. Cooper recently turned 3 y.o. in September. He is a short hair orange tabby with intense light green eyes. Cooper came to us as a kitten in distress. I saw him way up in one of our juniper bushes and we estimated that he was 3 months old. He was very feral so he wouldn't let me touch him. I lured him out of the tree with some yummy food. That did the trick because this little guy was starving. I set up a bed and a cardboard house for him on the porch. He never left the porch after that. As I worked on trying to make friends with him, I noticed some deep marks on the scruff of his neck, like maybe talon marks. Given the possible talon marks and where I found him high up (8 ft at least) in a juniper bush, it seemed consistent with a hawk grabbing a helpless kitten and then accidentally losing grip and dropping the kitten while flying, causing the kitten to drop into the bush. Anyway, over the days, this sweet little kitten warmed up to me so that I could pet him and finally pick him up. At that point, I brought him to the vet to get him checked out. With his vaccines and flea meds on board, he was ready to move into the house with me. And happily, my other cats quickly accepted him. In the picture, Cooper is laying in the bathroom sink which is the perfect size for him. His eyes are big, round and intensely green. His large ears are fully perked up. He looks very happy to stay in the sink. This is 16 y o.Tiger. He came to me through one of my neighbors after Hurricane Ike in 2008. Tiger is a sweet guy, but had had a tough life so far. It was clear that he had been shot with buckshot and he had a terrible upper respiratory infection and had rotting teeth. So I decided to take on his care. Once his URI was better, it was time for some oral surgery for his teeth. Tiger had a condition called tooth resorption which is painful and the teeth must be removed. While the dentist worked on his mouth, the general surgeon worked on removing the buckshot from under his skin. Those surgeries were successful. Shortly after, I discovered he had a birth defect affecting his lower spinal cord. Turns out Tiger has a lumbosacral spinal malformation that could not be surgically fixed. So he takes pain meds to keep him comfortable, and he's able to get around without any deficits. In the picture, we see Tiger is a short hair brown & black tabby cat. He is sitting in a "loaf", looking at the camera with his deep green eyes. He also has the cutest blep. I got Peach when she was 6 months old from a rescue that desperately needed to clear space for more kittens. Peach and Tiger became best buddies -- they were inseparable. Peach was the sweetest most delicate little girl. Because of how delicate she was and how lithe her body was, I frequently called her Peacherina, combining the word Peach and ballerina together. As a tribute to Peach, I created a Twitter account called Peach's Mom. Unfortunately, when she was 9 y.o., she was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma just as the pandemic started. With treatment, her life expectancy was 18 months. Well my girl did great with her treatment and went into remission. Her cancer came back in Feb 2023, 36 months after her initial diagnosis. I decided not to aggressively treat her and instead opted for palliative care. She lived 3 more quality months. She passed away in my arms on May 4, 2023.🌈 In this picture, Peach is laying on my bed, snuggled between my legs for warmth. She has short hair and a mostly white body. On top of her head and back is a light creamy orange and she has the pinkest nose. Her two front paws are stretched out in front of her and they are crossed. Her colors remind me of peaches and cream. Even after her death, I kept the name of my Twitter account and now use that name here at Bluesky. RIP sweet girl.

Monsters. They've abolished universal newborn Hep B vaccination, in an 8-3 vote. Since 1991, that dose prevented 6M+ infections, almost 100k deaths, & millions of chronic liver disease/cancer cases.

A few months ago I encountered a person who said they voted for Trump because they knew the liberal Supreme Court would keep him in line. I asked him how the Supreme Court was liberal and he said "doesn't it have to be by law or something?"

He’s right. I *hate* it but those are the (rigged) rules of the game, and we can either play by the “fair” rules and lose democracy or we can play the game sitting in front of us and then fix the rules to be fair again after we regain power from the cheaters.

But support for school MMR requirements dropped from 82% in 2019 to 69% in 2025. This decline is largely because of a steep slide in support among Republicans. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, 79% of Republicans said healthy children should be required to get the MMR vaccine to attend school. This share sunk to 57% in 2023, then to 52% in 2025. In contrast, Democrats’ views on school MMR requirements have remained stable, with solid majority support.
