Mainstream journos that think the US has gone too far with Venezuela. You're right. But where the fuck were you, and why the fuck were you quiet, when Trump/Biden flattened Gaza? Why can you talk about this abuse of decency and international law, but not Palestine? We see you.

2025 #storygraph reading wrap-up! 📚

My top 3:
• Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins (THG will always have my heart)
• A Short Walk Through a Wide World by Douglas Westerbeke (haunting and wonderful)
• A Language of Limbs by Dylin Hardcastle (so beautifully written and heartbreaking)

One day something will happen — a wedding, a graduation, a job promotion, Jake Paul getting knocked out, Andrew Tate getting knocked out the next day — and you’ll want the right outfit to celebrate. Buy that special outfit now, so you’re ready when that next unexpected moment arrives.

After Bondi terror attack I directed my ASRC team to stop all our fundraising as it didn’t feel morally right as we grieved & mourned as a nation & out of respect for the Jewish Australian community. Tomorrow we need to restart it as our Xmas Appeal is now way behind & we’ve almost run out of time.

So as everyone kind of knew, when Chris Minns talked about cracking down on protests and gatherings, he really meant specifically pro-Palestine and anti-mass-murder protests: racist, white nationalist protests (probably attended by neo-nazi anti-semites) are completely fucking fine

As we hold space for communities to mourn after tragedy, we must also be alert to how politicians use grief to pursue divisive politics. In a time of escalating racist violence (against Jews, Muslims, Indigenous folks, migrants etc), we should refuse selective empathy and oppose all forms of racism.

As Christmas orders are now closed, I'm going to post some pieces that I have sold in the past. A wee trip down memory lane.
This little drawing is a fun top down view of a cat sleeping in a flower bed, I don't think the gardener will be happy!

I never look forward to the 26th of January, but, honestly after this year's ANZAC Day in Naarm/Melbourne and the attack on Camp Sovereignty, and how hight tensions are around so many other things in the country, I think this year's 26th might end up being genuinely unsafe for First Nations people.

Ugh. Discordant message on the Sydney Harbour bridge photographed for the NYTimes story on social media ban for under-16s. Not just Lego green & ick flouro yellow but sanctimonious 'Let Them Be Kids' from a country which jails Indigenous kids & hasn't held the childcare industry to account.

'It's maddening': Anger and frustration amid record Black deaths in custody
Australia has recorded the highest number of Indigenous deaths in custody since 1979. Experts say over-incarceration remains a national crisis and prisons are neglecting the physical and mental health...
