Honestly I wish the post-hoc rationales were elaborate, in some of these papers. Some of them are just so unbelievably 'saying standard activist things in slightly more polite tone'

Do you have a sense of the relative strength of these three potential explanatory factor?
1) It's much less effort than their normal work and has career rewards
2) They're so autistic they don't think the work's obvious
3) They're knowingly trying to be mere respectability human shield
