Some of my core beliefs are: Marx, Carnap, and Wittgenstein are methodologically important, Hegel was on to something, 3rd Crit was on to something, Chalmers stuff isn't just confusion, comp cog sci is relevant, Symbolist Manifesto and Defense of Poetry were on to something

I think the core EA/rat belief is that doing a first-pass formal or empirical or quantitative take on something already gives you a lot more action-guiding knowledge than you had before. I basically disagree with this belief

Wait this explains so much! I saw her give a talk at Yale last year and she seemed nervous as hell until she said this line 20 minutes in and got a good laugh from the room, at which point she totally relaxed and it became clear she was nervous about whether the joke will land
