Bluesky friends! Please check out my website builder temper.one, my web design gallery collected.li, and my type foundry jonastype.com! ✌️
I foolishly used to think font licensing was so complicated because nobody put enough work into improving the system. I now understand that every type publisher is constantly working on this, and there’s just no clear or easy solutions.

This is still pretty cool to me
Cool to see that the site announcing the Stanford University event about the rediscovery of the MingKwai prototype was built using my site builder temper.one! 😎

After providing design consultation for Applix last year, a tech company building AI tools for manufacturing optimization, I was recently hired to design and develop a new landing page for them.

It now serves as a foundation for the client to independently build additional subpages.

Earlier this year, I designed and developed the website for Layer Performance.

Layer Performance develops software for high-performance, non-planar additive manufacturing. They were recently awarded Digital Startup of the Year by @bundeswirtschaftsministerium.de.

Honored to be part of Typologie Vert, a beautifully crafted publication by Studio Recto Verso celebrating contemporary German type design.

Thanks to Julien Fincker for the pictures!

Last week I had the pleasure of giving a workshop on “Web Typography with HTML & CSS” in the Master’s program in Design at FH Potsdam.

It was an exploration of what’s possible when you treat CSS not just as an implementation method, but as a design tool for typographic experimentation.

Finally, some good news from the USA. Wasn’t sure if that was still possible. #NYC

Since releasing the first style of my Indicate Mono typeface on a pay-what-you-want basis (including a free option), people have been posting it to lots of free font sites.

I have no idea how far it’s spread or how people are using it — there’s no way to track that.

I don’t care too much about that AI company it’s made for, but this visual identity is a piece of beauty. Except those angular corner things maybe, not sure what to make of those.

Autoplay carousels for text content. Not ideal. How do you know how long it takes me to read? Please just let me click a button (or, even better, scroll) when I’m done reading.

Can someone recommend a hosting provider in the US? I’m just looking for a basic shared hosting plan, with PHP support and the option to connect an existing domain. Nothing fancy.

Updated post-self-evident-poems.com.

1. Replaced the Twitter link under the Social Media Poem with Mastodon and Bluesky links.
2. Updated the broken publishing house link to Open Library.
3. Fixed two small mobile bugs while I was at it.
Post-Self-Evident Poems
These poems demonstrate the above truism.
