Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest. There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day. What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid. It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

Consider:

- Cass Review widely criticised for misinformation, while Sega Bass Fishing probably gets at least a few things right about bass. More scientifically sound.

- No agenda: Just wants all people to enjoy catching digital fish.

- Cass Review doesn't have synergy with Soulcalibur.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

This is a lot of words to say that yes, Shadowrun has racism baked into it, and they've tried to tone it down in the more recent editions (to a disappointing degree, I feel) but it's there because the world is full of people rising up against their station and fighting back.

People argue all the time about whether or not Shadowrun is a cyberpunk game, but what's more punk than modifying your body or being a seven foot fuckall troll in a world where trolls are universally misunderstood / hated? And the theme of the game is to stick it to the system as hard as you can?

And yeah, in game there's institutional racism as well, between the JIS and the Islamic Movement to Kenneth Brackhaven in Seattle. Shadowrun says, "yes, it's cool to be a troll that can suck up damage like a mfer, but you're also dealing with the fact that *not even doors are made for you*

The game - at least second edition does - have social modifiers based on what race you are. The priority system penalizes you for choosing a non-human race by having it take a higher priority than anything else. So there's a lot working against you when you're meta in Shadowrun.

So I don't think that you're saying the setting / game is bad. I see the critique you're giving it. I'm saying, Shadowrun does take pains to show that despite the fact that there's lots of racism in Shadowrun it's not universal.
