In a caravan and the living space is great but my god, the bedroom. This is the only space to stand up in, get dried/dressed, turn around in. Feel like I’m just ricocheting about and going to put an elbow or knee through a wall at any moment.

Yup, you almost can’t be angry with them as it’s just so culturally ingrained. They know no different. They’re a selfish, inconsiderate ‘me, me, me’ nation.

And I do like Americans! Generally (and individually) they are a lovely friendly people.

This is one thing I think we can forgive Americans for - they get a lot of stick for not getting place names right but I would bet the majority of English people would be equally floored by those.
