The transformation of ICE into a type of national police force, backed, in some cases, by soldiers from the National Guard, has been covered as immigration story—but these forces are reshaping democracy for all of us.

As with (much smaller) Delta raids in Libya a decade ago to capture Benghazi attackers, there were likely FBI HRT agents attached to do the actual arrest.

The idea that protecting those FBI agents was the legal justification under Article II for bombing a bunch of air defense sites seems…novel.

A very concerning narrative is building in the EU affairs bubble on the #DigitalOmnibusPackage: that it is little else than an attempt to appease the US President and Big Tech.

As a representative of the European technology community, let me explain why this could not be further from the truth 👇

Ich spreche dieser Bundesregierung und insbesondere dem Totschnig absolut jedes ernsthafte bemühen um Umwelt oder Klima ab. Es ist eine Schande was da passiert.

Excellent thread on the progress of the clean energy transition detailed in the IEA report (despite fossil fuel interests and Trump putting in spurious scenarios to confuse matters). Worth reading down to the bottom because there are some important graphs, particularly:
NEW: Global fossil fuel use will peak before 2030 – unless 'stated policies' are abandoned

Contra some terrible news coverage, IEA World Energy Outlook shows coal near peak, oil peaking by 2030 & gas by 2035 (see chart)

What's going on? 🧵 + cool charts

🚨 The news-media is utterly failing to cover these momentous scientific findings.

The public is not being informed of the danger posed.

The UK chief scientist Dame Angela McLean just highlighted this as an issue of national security - why are no news outlets covering it ?!? 🤯
