This is some weak-ass tea.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

I voted NO on H.R. 7147, the FY 2026 Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, which would continue to fund ICE & Customs and Border Protection at outrageous levels and further enable the Trump Administration’s racist enforcement actions against immigrant communities across this country.

Most folks focus on books, but I found that through Libby, I can read The New Yorker. I had given up my subscription (I never kept up and it had gotten quite $$$), but to be able to dip in at my leisure has been revelatory.
everyone tell your friends and relatives about digital library loans!
I did recently tell my 80-yr-old father (who *never* used to read when I was growing up) about digital library loans and he is over the moon about them. He texts me regular updates on how many books he’s read since then; the most recent number was 20. 🥹

Ti Couz. Breton-style crepes in San Francisco's Mission district. Their mushroom sauce (with some gruyere) was exquisite. As was the caramel sauce crepe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Have never found anything that compares.

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

I, too, just did this, calling my rep @replsimon.bsky.social, and my two senators, @schiff.senate.gov and @padilla.senate.gov to let them know how I feel. I used http:://5calls.org/ to get their phone numbers.
I'm taking a little coffee break to call my senators and say defund and abolish ICE. Feel free to do the same.

As the sun rose behind the Transamerica Pyramid on Thursday morning, the building’s shadow appeared to flip into the sky above.

The effect, known as crepuscular rays, is caused by scattering of the sun’s rays by haze or other particles. Clouds or buildings cast shadows that make sunbeams visible.

It’s exciting to be walking in the footsteps of John Brown at Harpers Ferry, where he captured the federal armory in 1859 in an attempt to eradicate slavery from the United States. We saw this 1939 painting by John Stuart Curry recently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
