Proudly Representing California's 12th Congressional District.
Before politics, I spent decades working with young people. It’s how I got to know Coach Beam. His life's work was not to save Oakland’s children, it was to remind them that they were never lost.

To Cindi, Monica and Sonjha: thank you for sharing him with us.

Rest easy, Faithful Servant.

When Trump lashes out, California fights back.

Late last week @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov filed a lawsuit to block the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from withholding funds already appropriated by Congress that would benefit our babies, elders, and working families… (1/2)
Judge halts Trump freeze on child care funding after suit by Bonta, 4 states
“This is Trump with no basis, with no facts,” Attorney General Rob Bonta said in announcing the lawsuit Thursday night.

This administration gutted SNAP, Medicaid and ACA tax credits-and now they're attacking child care.

Parents will lose the care they need to be able to go to work. This administration demonizes the poor, then weaponizes resources they rely on in Democratic led states.

The Trump Adminstration just froze millions of dollars for for child care subsidies, social services and cash support for low-income families in states with Democratic leaders.

People are struggling to put food on the table. They can't afford their prescriptions. But somehow there's always unlimited money for war.

The Administration's strike in Venezuela was unconstitutional.

Congress wasn't consulted. We weren't notified. That's not how this works.

Today, I voted YES on an Appropriations bill that responsibly funds the government and puts real guardrails on Trump's lawlessness and ongoing betrayal of the American people. Read my full statement below.

Republicans gutted Medicaid in the Big Cruel Bill. They shut down the government. They refused to extend ACA tax credits. Now millions of Americans are watching their health care costs skyrocket.

I say hell no.

Today, Democrats forced a vote through a discharge petition.

While Republicans shrug off an unconstitutional act of war and hand their Congressional authority to the President on a silver platter, Democrats are fighting to keep health care affordable.

We're forcing a vote to stop ACA premiums from exploding.

@oversightdemocrats.bsky.social led by @pressley.house.gov moved swiftly yesterday to subpoena all footage and records regarding the killing of Renee Nicole Good and open an investigation.

Republicans voted it down.

This is not over. We will continue to demand answers and transparency.
BREAKING: ICE killed a Minnesota woman in broad daylight & there must be accountability.

But when I moved to subpoena all records & footage related to this murder, Republicans voted it down.

They've never cared about law & order or keeping our communities safe.

This week marks one year since the devastating Palisades and Eaton fires roared across Southern CA claiming 31 lives and destroying over 16,000 homes and businesses.

This is state violence, not safety. The agent should be terminated, ICE MUST be held accountable, and we need a full investigation.

Five years ago, a violent mob incited by Donald Trump attacked our democratic process and endangered the Capitol Police and the workers who keep this institution running.

That was not a protest. It was an assault on the Constitution.

Congress must reassert its Constitutional power to declare war and reign in this Administration.

We must use every tool to hold this President accountable and to defend the principle that in the U.S., we do not let one man choose war.

Happy 2026 East Bay! May this new year bring you and your family joy and good health.

I am honored to continue serving our beautiful district in 2026 and look forward to a year full of fighting for our communities, for justice, and for a better world for us all.

Veterans in the Bay Area have been waiting for a new clinic and accessible service for the last 10 years - but the Trump administration recently cancelled the Alameda Point project.

This is no way to repay our veterans’ sacrifice to this nation.

CA-12 is one of the most diverse places in the U.S. with vibrant community organizations and institutions.

We have leaders and groups who power the East Bay, the nation, AND the future with their work.

Check out some of the causes that I was proud to secure federal grants for this year.

Wishing a Christmas holiday full of love, rest, recovery, and health to all who celebrate.

My team in the East Bay has been hard at work leading up to the holidays, take a look at what they’ve been up to:

We are witnessing a criminal White House cover-up.

Last week, I voted against two Republican bills that would restrict and criminalize life-saving, gender affirming care for transgender youth.

Health care decisions should be made by medical professionals, patients and their families -- not Congress.

In your first year in Congress, people will tell you you can't do much in the minority - it's very important that you don't listen and fight like hell for the people of CA-12 who sent you here to advocate and work for them.

I proudly voted YES on H. Con. Res'. 61&64 because Congress must reclaim its singular authority to declare war & put a stop to endless wars. Trump's actions against Venezuela are illegal, alarming, & reckless. The East Bay has long spoken out against endless wars- I carry that mantle forward. (1/3)

🚨BREAKING: The discharge petition, which would force a vote on extending ACA tax credits, has reached 218 signatures.

Access to affordable, high-quality health care is the absolute floor. Families cannot go into the new year paying extreme costs for care. This cannot wait. (1/2)
