If it comes in addition to current taxes, you will destroy capital.
The country wants a wealth tax on assets.

They're panicking because "won't the rich just leave" has been utterly debunked.

Some time ago, @gabrielstravels.bsky.social querried @jonworth.eu about the line Paris N ↔️ Beauvais.

A very slow and twisty line (100km/h), with unsatisfactory journey times (1hr15min), and just average frequency (1 tph).

The ⚡ beyond Persan-Beaumont (1999) has brought limited benefits.

So the penny-pinching at SNCF keeps going on: TGV Lille - Paris is merged with TGV Arras - Paris and TERGV Lille - Arras...
And this TGV is a TERGV as far as Arras. So there are loads of people standing in the bar (that’s closed anyway)

Hard to believe that this station is served by a handful of TGV InOui and Ouigo every day.

40 years ago, it even had 3 daily TEE to/from Paris Nord.

Some background information to understand those current failures:

. 🚌 became the easy, faster, very high-frequency substitute for infrequent and slow 🚂 services from the early-80s.

Back then, most of the AP network had already been completed.

On other corridors, N roads were being upgraded 🔜

Is there any consensus at what distance it makes sense to build HSR to a 350 km/h standard rather than a 300 km/h one?
