Given the small fleet of Renfe which can run in 🇫🇷 (9 ageing S-100F and hopefully very soon 10 S-106F), you can't serve Paris, Lyons, Toulouse, Marseilles with decent frequency.

Marseilles Is more North - South than East - West.

Once Old Oak Common - Curzon Street opens, 🇬🇧 public will start craving for more 😋
February 2, 2026 at 10:46 PM
Which other areas?
February 2, 2026 at 10:42 PM
I'm afraid yes 😬😬😬
February 2, 2026 at 10:39 PM
Paris - Lyons - Montpellier -Barcelona can be a good start, with decent frequency (1 tp2hrs)

As HSLs Bordeaux - Toulouse/Dax + Burgos - San Sebastián open,

. Paris - Bordeaux - Madrid

. Bordeaux - Marseilles

. Bilbao - Toulouse

That would bequite a nice network, inc. synergies with AVE in 🇪🇦.
February 2, 2026 at 10:38 PM
Yes, 3 lines for the time being.
February 2, 2026 at 9:59 PM
Or maybe Flixbus to Karlsruhe or Strasbourg to catch a TGV there?
February 2, 2026 at 9:36 PM
December 2027? 🤭
February 2, 2026 at 9:32 PM
For the time being, Renfe gas other 🐠 to fry home in 🇪🇦.

Later in, all AVE services through la Jonquera will focus on Lyons and Paris.

Marseilles and Toulouse are temporary distractions.

This was a very stupid decision indeed 🤐

Where's the point in a rail-air link if the buffers are in the outskirts of an increasingly congested city? 🙄🤔🤯
February 2, 2026 at 9:01 PM
Haven't some preparatory works begun?
February 2, 2026 at 8:57 PM
It's really saddening, yes.

The user charges paid to Réseau ought to include regular outer cleaning.
February 2, 2026 at 8:48 PM
I've never understood why Hamburg (2.5M) and Leipzig-Halle (1M) nowadays remain so poorly connected.

There's potential for 2-3 tph.
February 2, 2026 at 8:16 PM
It more or less seems like a stop-gap measure.
Or maybe TrainOSE will create a lower, slower class of trains to operate these EMUs.
February 2, 2026 at 7:46 PM
Around Sydney and Perth.
February 2, 2026 at 7:38 PM
Some will feature IC interiors. Where will those run?

If TrainOSE wants to expand its IC offer, getting 2nd-hand IC carriages from TI could be an option.
February 2, 2026 at 7:08 PM
Maybe some carriages can be released by those new Coradia Stream EMUs.
February 2, 2026 at 6:58 PM
I really wonder whether TrainOSE has enough spare SGP carriages for a loooooonnngg return duty to Sofia.

Demand keeps rising on Athens - Thessaloniki.
@steroumel.bsky.social probably knows 🙂
