I don't think the biggest problem is that this relief exists. The total allowance is 60k. That's just mad.
You can also park 20k in your ISA, 9k in JISA per kids, 2.8k in JSIPP per kid.
A family of 4 can shelter just over 183k per year from tax.

Also, guess who learned about pensions as a 43 year old self-employed person and was pretty shocked about it all.

This why you should know how pensions work.
If you pay into a pension, you get the 20% income tax you paid back. You pay £80 into a pension, weeks later the Gov put in another £20.
Higher Rate Relief, is if you pay 40% or 45%, you also get the 20%, but then you get the other 20-25% back in cash.

Ending higher rate tax relief on pension contributions would raise over £14bn a year.
Why isn’t this talked about more as something the CX should do? What am I missing?

Really enjoyed Pluribus so far, Apple TV again smashing it.
Who would of thought backing creatives and giving them creative freedom would be a good strategy?
This, Severance, Foundation, Silo, For All Mankind, The Studio, Platonic, The Morning Show, Slow Horses... like what's competing with that?

The ability to convince capital markets to hand you a trillion dollars on the strength of obvious bullshit paired with the inability to get a single human to sincerely and spontaneously say they love you is some real punishment of the gods shit.
Elon has never experienced this and neither have his biggest fans but now they can create these visuals with the help of a computermachine

Well yesterday seems alright. America realised they can vote properly, crypto continued to get savaged and AI stocks started to wobble after Michael Burry (the Christian Bale character in the Big Short) has basically shorted Palantir and Nvidia.

Given the UK public's general level of financial illiteracy, we're not going to have a rational debate about Tax.
We've got families making £100+k living month to month, millions who don't know what a pension is, let alone what it's doing, & loads of companies working in the UK invoicing from Dubai

So his punishment is "He's now just normal, still rich, but normal."?
How's that sit with all the "I'm OK with the monarchy because it's just a tourist attraction" people?
Nationalise the Monarchy.

Todays programming nightmare: Files uploaded with chinese characters in the filename, when later downloaded on Windows the same file has giberish filename, on Unix (Mac/Linux) it's fine as uploaded.
The kicker: I have to fix without access to a windows machine.

The only fair thing to do for these coming Tax rises is simple.
Only raise taxes for people who voted leave.
They broke it, they pay for it.

why, that's a *steal* for the smart piss ball, and I can't wait to find out how much the monthly subscription for the piss-sniffing service costs, and it'll be so useful, and I won't mind the occasional leaking of data on my leaks until the inevitable shutdown day, when my piss ball is sadly bricked

Halo:CE is one of my personal core gaming pillars. It will always be in the top 2 or 3 games ever for me. I had so much fun with it and because of it.
But just flicking through the footage of the new remake... it seems a bit soulless. I don't know what it is, but it's not right.

Man the M5 Apple Silicon is so good. I thought after M1 being so good the gains going forward would be small, but in 5 years they've found double the performance.
Going to be really hard to say no to a M5 Apple Studio when they appear.

ChatGPT’s new Atlas browser doesn’t just see what you read — it remembers it.
@eff.org’s Lena Cohen showed me it even logged “memories” of her looking for *abortion care* and her doctor’s name. Out-surveils even Chrome.

OpenAI’s Atlas promises AI-powered convenience. The price? Letting ChatGPT track and store “memories” of what you do online.

MS has had WoW for years now, no sign of WoW on Xbox. Not even a WoW token in Game Pass Perks.
I understand they don't want to put it in Game Pass, but it always needs new players. Why not do an Xbox version (there are controller mods)? Why not give Game Pass people a few months to get started?
