The news the past few days has been extremely hard.

The winter extremely cold.

The world especially difficult.

But, today each of us has the chance to do one little thing to combat the awful.

It is difficult, but choose joy today. Choose love. Choose kindness.

Be a a small rebellion.

Are you in Mesa County, Colorado? Your public library board is about to be overtaken with extremists.

Get to the board meeting TOMORROW to speak up and out about what's going to come if these two get appointed.

Please do this! Libraries and librarians really really need your support. Because the dismantling of the Department of Education will impact us ALL
Libraries do so much for our communities and families and we'd like to give back!

Please take time this coming week to send an email or postcard of appreciation for your library to your superintendent, school board/city council, county commissioners court- or to librarians themselves!

Yesterday our local brewery had an adult scholastic book fair supporting 6 local libraries in the region and a local book store. It was so much fun and you could feel the love for libraries and books and beer. A Win- win! Support libraries and support local businesses! #booksky #libraries

As a bookish kid, I admired the Supreme Court for having the character to unanimously come out against segregation in the 1950s, when no other branch of our government would have had that courage.

So it saddens me to see it lose its way and endorse judging people for the color of their skin today.
