Compagnies give way to much money to sports teams for the broadcasting rights and then realize they need to cut the quality of the broadcast and other shows because they will lose to much money during the length of the deal.

Lots of season ticket holders sell the Leafs and Habs tickets to recoup some of the cost of their season tickets. That's one of the reason why the arena is overrun by their fans on these games.
