I picked up Direct Descendant by @tanyahuff.bsky.social from the library and speed read it for the last … six hours. Next step - I need to buy my own copy and take a slower victory lap. It was the best way to wait out a thunderstorm.

If your business model doesn’t work without breaking the law, then you’re not in business.

You’re in organized crime.

@pratchatpodcast.com I’m very late to the party, but I’m listening to #Pratchat24. You missed the joke that Fred was three weeks from retirement and he nearly bought the farm. I love that gag.

@pratchatpodcast.com in The Truth, is sounds like reincarnation doesn’t have to happen linearly. Windle Poons was going to reincarnate as a woman. Is Windle Poons a preincarnation of Esk?

I recommend re-reading a book you had to read for school as a teenager. You might be surprised at how your perspective has changed.

We shouldn’t accept that a CEO killer must get a national manhunt when cops don’t solve most murders at all. A migrant teenager was just murdered in NYC, cops just killed a guy here — the lives of these other people are worth just as much as that CEO.

I'm once again asking for a show where a librarian, a bookseller, and a carpenter travel around helping people manage their out-of-control book collections. Discuss their sentimental value, their rarity, their histories, then build amazing book nooks and shelves and little libraries to organize them

Textile fragments get preserved in the most interesting places, such as the covers of books. This example from @bodleianlibraries.bsky.social is bound in boards covered with a handsome blue and gold coloured silk brocade, probably woven in Italy during the 16th century. #TextileTuesday

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.
