If you are a small creator and you want to do a deep dive into audio editing beyond Audacity, Reaper is the way to go. The community is very helpful, there are a lot of great free plugins, and you can demo Reaper 'til you're ready to buy it. And when you do buy it, you won't have to sell a kidney.

I did find a script that allowed me to customize it so the editing is closer to Pro Tools which has helped a lot. I'm already working again and I'm starting to learn the architecture of the DAW. My advice is take one task at a time and learn how to execute it. again, the tutorials help a lot.

After, checks notes... Dear God! 27 years of using Pro Tools, I'm making the switch to Reaper. I haven't needed to deliver a project in Pro Tools in awhile and can't justify the insane price of Avid's subscription. If you are interested at in my take on switching after all this time, read on.
