Outside the afternoon air is thick and hot as the sun begins its slow descent towards the west. Galadriel slips through the kitchen door, eager to make her way to the barn in search of Halbrand. The farmhand has made himself scarce since the burial that morning.
Before she’s even made it down the back steps, an arm darts out to wrap around her waist, swiftly tugging her down into the shadows alongside the house where Halbrand has been lying in wait. Deftly he spins her into his embrace, crowding her against the wall by the back door until she is caught between him and the rough boards.
“I’ve been waiting to get my hands on you all day,” he murmurs, dipping his head to claim a kiss. A large hand cups her throat, angling her face back so he can deepen the kiss. Calloused fingers brush softly against her skin. Her lips part easily when he pushes his thumb just so against the hinge of her jaw. His tongue slides against hers in a slick caress.

The naked hunger in his embrace startles her at first, before it sparks an answering hunger in her own belly. Old cotton, hair, skin, Galadriel digs her fingers into whatever of Halbrand she can grasp hold of, dragging him closer until he has her pinned to the farmhouse wall.
“I was just coming to find you,” she gasps when their lips finally part.
“Were you now?” Halbrand presses open-mouthed kisses along her jaw and down the side of her neck while his hands make quick work of the buttons of her dress, revealing more and more of her throat as he goes. “Did you miss me?”

The fact that people now think the use of em-dashes and colons/semi-colons is the mark of ChatGPT is my villain origin story. You will pry those from my cold dead fanfic writer hands. I use those so much. I probably overuse them but they’re my pretties!
