Ecologist of Midwestern fire-dependent ecosystems & volunteer land steward @ Mukwonago River Oak Barrens. Opinions mine. Among them is the need to stop viewing grasslands, savannas, & woodlands through a productivist lens. He/Him

If this had not come out, I probably would have sent this campaign a trivial donation. Democrats need to provide options that aren't octogenarians, but almost all men that present like this are frauds. Yet, I was starting to build some hope around this guy...but Nazi tattoo. JFC.
The comments here are exactly why we are regressing right now . JFC direct it at the enemy, and political reality will allow for better policy. The right is so much better at that (voters and who they elect).

Photos coming out of Western AK are devastating.

Hardest hit are indigenous villages off road system, many miles by air from supplies. Most built on river deltas w/ no high ground to which to escape.

Cuts to NASA/NOAA mean worse weather data. Cuts to EPA mean no grants for erosion control. Etc.
These are mostly indigenous communities in Alaska that have been slammed by the storm.

The local manager of a small airline fleet says he is the only one doing evacuations right now!

Defund FEMA and people are abandoned. Defund public media and no-one knows.

FYI, today is Indigenous Peoples Day.
Of course most of our land is wasted on a gas additive and CAFO feed...we could produce more energy and real food and completely abandon a huge fraction of it.
A better solution even than planting prairie is a just having a shifting patchwork of fallow land, because common milkweed finds it on its own, and so do the monarchs.
I'm very happy if people plant prairies, and it helps monarchs a bit, but common milkweed is transient, and often the more conservative milkweeds with staying power aren't used, or only in a limited way.
A lot of that is in the research USFWS presented with the proposed listing. We can plant prairies, and that helps a little, but the reality is common milkweed is transient. The real solution is something there is no political will to do--make ag less profoundly toxic to life.
Yeah before roundup-ready crops, ag probably meant *more* milkweed.
This is the kind of greenwashing that people literally eat up.
For 20 years The Nature Conservancy’s Zumwalt Prairie has been billed as a model for “sustainable grazing.”
I walked in expecting a conservation success story.
What I found looked a lot more like a feedlot in waiting. 🧵
Fascists are to blame. Yes Democratic leadership are mostly cowards and need to be replaced, but fascists doing fascist things and voters voting for fascists are to blame. That issue at that time did not decide the election either.
Very little around here looks so good, but I could certainly direct you to some of the better spots.
My native state simply sucks. It’s run by cowards and sell-outs on one hand and sell-outs and bigots on the other.

“How could he amount to anything if he did not use loaded dice? How has he used loaded dice with you? The laws that say he can fire anybody who stands up for the rights of workers—those are loaded dice. The policemen who protect his property rights but not your human rights—those are loaded dice."
Differential grazing history may have also affected the soil.
And she believed it. She needs primaried
Got refunded. I was told that they were sure of the plants the seeds came from but that sometimes the asters cross. Hmmm...these weren't intermediate in any discernable way, and I hope they check again.
Really none of them ought to be.
Grammatical error in Abstract!
I scrutinize all plants I receive now closely. In some instances I've stopped ordering from vendors. In any case usually refrain from ordering things for which ID a little difficult (shouldn't be for growers though).
