The private bribe being paid for defense forces, just like Trump’s treatment of the White House as private property, reveal the basic agenda for this regime - to align political power completely and directly with ownership of capital.
The US armed forces are being paid for by a wealthy individual rather than the state. What could go wrong?
These do seem to be the options don't they. Either way I am sorry for her.
So sorry to read this.

We stand together — elected officials, business leaders, the faith community, law enforcement, educators, and more — in our opposition to the abuses of power by Donald Trump's administration.

We're telling this unwarranted and unconstitutional occupation to stay out of Chicago.

One of the most effective things you can do to damage Christianity is to stand before the world, with a crucifix around your neck, and lie.

Note that these deployments, and the increasingly-exaggerated descriptions of cities as war zones, are the prelude to declaring (and creating, if needed), circumstances where (e.g.) free elections could not be held.

I wake to the near-tragedy of a Geelong loss in the AFL Grand Final and here is Nick Hornsby in @nytimes.com reviewing (very nicely) Helen Garner’s “The Season” and telling me, the reader, that Australian footy is a game “in which you almost certainly have no interest.” The irony.
