Sir I am not in the habit of eating the shell of the nut—that's just regular wood. It's the nut's house.
Yes—there seems to be the sadism of attacking completely unsuspecting people.

Yes we’ll rally round the flag, boys, we’ll rally once again,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom,
We will rally from the hillside, we’ll gather from the plain,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!
Protesters clashed with federal agents for another night outside the Whipple Federal Building, which holds ICE detainees. Agents fired less-lethal munitions and deployed chemical irritants at the crowd.

I just have GOT to get my hands on a quality pet stroller to take my cats to the zoo once spring comes!

This seems to be the most correct possibility—not so much they're "too beholden to the same interests as Republicans" as "they are too beholden to a certain set of alleged data expert consultants"
January 13, 2026 at 2:51 PM
The duality of Bluesky on this one—majority of responses are either "they are why are you criticizing them" or "(essentially) they are no different from republicans"

And I think... both those positions are wrong 🤣
Seriously—why are Dems so opposed to full-throatedly denouncing ICE/DHS? What’s the actual political downside?

Though this DOES get at the root of one of the core faults of enlightenment liberalism, which is the inability to see vice as the result of sin or moral distortion rather than simply a lack of sufficient education.

Do you think the Gestapo would have done less crimes against humanity with better training?

The people who get turned off to voting for you as a result of these ads—they were never going to vote for you!
i dunno, thats my take at least....you run your campaigns full of ads with videos of out of control ice agents and you say "i will put a stop to this and my opponent is responsible for it and wants more if it"

I actually thought of that too—they’re pridefully below baseline.

(War) crimes on crimes on crimes
Breaking NYT:

The Pentagon used a secret aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane in its first boat attack, according to officials briefed on the matter.

The laws of armed conflict forbid combatants from feigning civilian status.

That is a war crime called "perfidy."

It would be more akin to the time the animal rights folks released a bunch of mink from a farm and then most of them got hit by trucks because they sounded like their automatic feeders.
January 13, 2026 at 5:03 AM
Yeah I think the amount of training they have received puts them basically still at their pre-hire capacities.
I'm not sure that I would characterize these guys as specialists, but
It’s worth considering that an overnight dismantling of ICE in 2029 would release into the wild a whole herd of specialists in violence with scant other marketable skills.

I did not have “Trump 2.0 yields Nazi Skynet” on my 2026 bingo card but probably should have.

if nothing else, if someone were to say “i am going to do a Mon Mothma speech because they are doing a Ghorman to Minneapolis” that would not really be outside the realm of comprehensible discourse at this point (the mayor was on stage while they read Nemik’s manifesto at a rally the other day)

.@PabloReports: Would you vote for any funding increases for ICE?

Warren: Not without more restrictions. This is an agency that is out of control. If we don’t get some restrictions in place, they’re going to put more American citizens at risk.
