RIP to the Toronto fans who flew 4370 km to this game.

It's been more entertaining than the score suggests, but still has to sting for the Sceptres.
Toronto is just getting absolutely pulped by the Goldeneyes.

5-0.

I thought Tuesday against Seattle was rough, this is nightmarish.

I don't care how good you think your reasons are, you're not gonna get any decent-minded white person to say "oh yeah I believe in segregation but for woke leftist reasons" because that's how the white supremacist cults signal to each other in public.

Home wrecking Leia and Han after she and Luke "go on break" during the whole "Ben" crisis.
Okay, nerds. Here's a prompt to distract you from our collective mental breakdown:

What is the funniest possible reason for Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade to break up if they introduce her into the Disney canon?

This is a beautiful work of experimental archaeology.

And also more than mildly horrifying. Worth a watch, assuming you've already eaten.

The Anglicans sold Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza to the Southern Baptist Convention in 1954, having founded it in 1882.

The Baptists left in 1982, and returned it to CMS, who turned it over to the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem.

It's Gaza's only Christian hospital and cancer center.
Counterpoint: the apostolic churches have infinitely more authority to speak on this than the barely sentient, warped bastard child of the münster anabaptists and john knox

maddening to see so many elites in america who believe that the system is self-reinforcing and that they have no real obligations to risk their hides (careers) to actually do anything

If I seem obsessed with the idea that elites should get off social media it's because I regard it as a keystone to understanding where we are right now. Imagine how brain poisoned you've been by this website, or Twitter; then imagine having a nuclear arsenal. You see the problem.

Like, in a very elemental anthropological way, we have laws for a reason, and it's because people won't tolerate it otherwise

The solution to blood feuds was never "well you should just not get so mad when someone you love is murdered." It was the law, it was justice
the uvalde cop scum were acquitted because the law favors cop scum, and while i do respect and value the rule of law, if this is where it ends, either the law is going to have to change or our acceptance of the law is going to have to change, and you do not need a telescope to see the danger here

This is why the calls from lawmakers for citizens to show restraint are so absurd. Not untrue or invalid, but absurd and blind to the realities of human nature and the conditions on the ground.

The "agreement" she's referencing wasn't about politics.

It was about the Potomac acting as a color line.
That idea has been dead for a while.

And the NoVA GOP has been de facto dead since we sent Comstock packing in 2018.

Like ninety percent of discourse on this website is feeling helpless and wanting to punch somebody and being unable to drive to DC and punch the orange fuck in the balls yourself so you punch the person next to you instead.
people aren't even saying "this is unamerican" that much but when they do say it I think they usually mean that it's against the american ideals they believe in. but the important thing here is to throw a wet blanket on people risking their lives to disrupt ICE goons in the streets.
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow

I understand this sentiment and I don’t begrudge it of anybody. I feel it myself sometimes too. But that feeling also crushes me and I feel an obligation to keep pushing myself away from the idea that Donald Trump and his Republicans’ idea of What Politics Is Now has won and I have to accept it.
i am, i think, generally a pretty congenial center-left voter. i’m not a radical. i’m not a reactionary. but i have spent the last ten years watching the fed government be taken over by right wing reactionaries and i am increasingly convinced we should use the tools they are building against them
if republicans and a handful of democrats in congress are willing to authorize a full blown paramilitary guard, and we do nothing to stop them well, i want control of that guard. drag the heritage foundation board into guantanamo. deport jesse watters to CECOT if laws don’t matter, they don’t matter

kidnapping a 5 year old to bait his father and then shipping them thousands of miles away should put you in prison, yes, but it should also cause every friend and family member you have ever had to permanently reject you in disgrace, and if they don’t, they share your shame
