Just received this review from Amanda over on Goodreads for Anthony Woodville: Sophisticate or Schemer. Wow, what a lovely review!! 🥰 I’ve felt unwell for the last few days and this has cheered me up no end! ❤️❤️
Professionally, I’ve been proud of what I’ve been able to achieve this year. I had the most bookings for talks, including my first large international one with @onthetudortrail.bsky.social about Edward V. Did first full season of my Georgian Derby and Belper tours and also had a stall at two fairs.

Just started pulling things together to write up my next talk. A massive thank you to Canva for designing this pretty awesome title page for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Yeehaw!

People have been asking me for a while what's your next book coming out. My response is, I have ideas, but with 3 jobs and caring responsibilities, I haven't approached anyone. I have been thinking about it. What are people's experiences of getting dissertations prepared for publication?

It’s the annual Spotify wrapped round up. Here are the top songs. Yes as you can see there isn’t much modern music, but I didn’t realise I was 87! 😂 #spotify #music

On Friday, me and my sister visited Hardwick Hall for their Christmas display. I haven’t been since university induction week 11 years ago and my sister had never been! 😱 Really enjoyed ourselves. History and Christmas, my 2 favourite things, can you tell? 😂 As my sister said, history chills! 🥰

On 2 December 1586, the machinery of Tudor justice stirred into motion. Queen Elizabeth I’s councillors formally drafted the death warrant for Mary, Queen of Scots- the first step toward an execution that would echo across Europe.

Whilst celebrating the collections, it's important to recognise histories that are underrepresented in archives. #EYASilence is an opportunity to highlight work taking place to challenge these silences, such as Ashanti Harris's project which consulted the Scottish Theatre Archive.

221 years ago, on the 2nd of December 1804, Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of the French at Notre Dame Cathedral. The 'Crown of Charlemagne' used previously had been destroyed during the revolution. 48 years later to the day, Napoleon III became Emperor. #otd #history 🗃️

"This place - the journey to it, the aura, the echoes, the muted light, the Saxon remnants and the Romanesque - has lifted my anxious self into a more rooted sense of the world."

Suggestion for a new themed week on #Strictly: medieval dancing! We’re lucky to have this fragile dance manual from the late 15th century in our archives. It contains dance instructions, manes of dances, numbers of dancers required, and even some of the music.

I haven't been lucky with the books I've been reading lately. Started some that turned out not to be very good and couldn't finish them. Just started this one about a spunky young woman joining the ATS in the Second World War. Really enjoying this so far.

Anyone who knows me will know I HATE sport. PE was the worst thing ever at school. What I am for though is for women to have a choice in what they do, even better if they beat men! Recently, I have been looking into the Dick, Kerr Ladies football team. An amazing story and may be a future talk.

Just gave my first talk on the Suffragette Hospital at Endell Street. Was quite stressful to think what to include or not. Went well, so I’m very relieved. To celebrate, here’s a photo of the operating theatre in their first hospital in a Paris hotel in the ladies’ toilets!
