Honestly, I usually use it for Q&As re: subjects no one I(my)RL has the knowledge/interest to discuss. Example from this morning: chatgpt.com/share/68ea75...

To be completely fair, though, this could all be riddled w/ wild inaccuracies/hallucinations & I wouldn't know any better.

My husband's used it as a coding assist but, even w/ the temp turned way down, he likens it to "an eager & knowledgeable junior dev w/ an unaddressed major head injury". Its product can be a great start of leg up but consistently needs review and refinement.

Though at this point distressingly usual.

He consistently looks like Dr Phil in a half-hearted Halloween costume.

lol, "thank fuck" was literally my reaction as well.

Brand new episode of PBS Terra discussing how wildfires poison our soil by burning the chemical compounds in our homes and our cars and all of it goes directly into the soil.

A former DOGE staffer developed an AI tool that hallucinated the size of Veterans Affairs contracts.

For example, it concluded that more than a thousand deals were each worth $34 million, when in fact some were for as little as $35,000.

DOGE Developed Error-Prone AI Tool to “Munch” Veterans Affairs Contracts
We obtained records showing how a Department of Government Efficiency staffer with no medical experience used artificial intelligence to identify which VA contracts to kill. “AI is absolutely the wron...

⁴to be doing an even better job of delegitimization better than the absence of enforcement ever could.

(This is actually meant to be a question, not a statement. I'll be legit overjoyed if you end up addressing this & explain why the nagging thoughts I've had about all of this are wrong.)

The major place they've diverged has been in ramping up enforcement capacity in some sectors (ICE, etc), but the manner in which that's being done seems³

They seem to be sticking pretty close to the accelerationist playbook of saturating government with loyal but incompetent actors, cutting enforcement capacity, ²

@hcrichardson.bsky.social I'm not sure where you take questions for your round-up streams, but:
Do you think there's a possibility that this is an orchestrated effort (by at least some factions in or influencing this admin) to intentionally delegitimize the government either in order to justify a¹

Well, they're trying to get something going but will likely settle for fabrications if that doesn't work.

Alas, it was too late when I remembered that last night's plan for this morning was for me to act contravention to established precedent and, upon awakening, LEAP out of bed and move my clothes for today from the washer to the dryer.

Apologies.
There has been a pixel containment breach.
A three-panel image showing a Tumblr thread with a screenshot of a Twitter conversation at the top, followed by a comment, and a concluding tag line.
Panel 1: Twitter Conversation (Jeannette Ng)
A series of tweets from the user Jeannette Ng (@jeannette_ng) recounts an anecdote:
 * Tweet 1: "Eye-opening little anecdote from a friend who ran a table top game for his all male gaming group: He genderflipped every character in the pre-written module, resulting in an all female setting. His players grew increasingly paranoid and were convinced of a conspiracy."
 * Tweet 2: "The players (convinced there's some sort of murder cult going on) started scouring the setting for men. The pre-written module's village contained only one female character: the wife of the blacksmith. Unnamed. Which of course was all the more suspicious to them."
 * Tweet 3: "There was absolutely nothing my friend could do to convince his players that there wasn't a great conspiracy or at least a basement full of dead dudes."
Panel 2: Tumblr Comment (linguisticparadox)
A comment by the user linguisticparadox reads:
"#this could be a new 'Bechdel' test: if you gender swap all the characters does it feel like something must have happened to all the men?"

That reminds me of the story of when a DM gender swapped all of the characters in a D&D module. This led to all NPCs (except, I think, for an unnamed "husband of" someone) being female. It didn't take long for the players to assume that something nefarious was going on (curse, cult, etc).

That's so odd.

I had hoped that such lunacy was restricted to my current side of the Atlantic.

Perhaps I'll make some black bean patties & call them burgers with extra gusto tonight.

A humorous text-over-image meme featuring a detail from a classical painting, likely depicting a saint or noblewoman. The woman has long, dark reddish-brown hair, is wearing a light-colored garment, and is holding an open book. A sword or a similar long, straight object, possibly representing a martyr's attribute, is visible across her chest/neck area.
The white text overlaid on the image reads: "None of this would be happening if I had an enormous cursed sword".
