How much inequality passes from generation to generation in Latin America? A new WP by Francisco Ferreira, @paolobrunori.bsky.social, @gneidhofer.bsky.social, @psalasr.bsky.social & Louis Sirugue finds that 30–50% of educational inequality and 46–66% of income inequality is inherited.

8/My remarks apply a fortiori to Summers' position as a commentary on American academia. His amorality/immorality end any credibility to his posturing on the failures of Harvard or other universities. The same holds for his posturing about the moral failings of the Trump administration.

5/ Please do not suggest that there is any sense in which Summers contributions are unique or essential, that is simply nonsense. It is not how social science works, with exceptions too rare to disprove a general rule.

4/ Summers is welcome to publish papers via peer review like anyone else. He should not be a leader of the profession, given plums such as invited publications, lectures, made integral to programmatic policy statements, etc. Doing so implies that gross sexism is regarded as triviality.
