Trump may not care about polls anymore. If he now believes that he has enough of a grip on power, to the point of being able to manipulate voting/elections, then his "base" matters less and less. He likely believes that midterms are a done deal.
A bit concerning that Trump is behaving as if he doesn't care about support/polls at this point. He may believe that his grip on power is such that nothing can dislodge him, particularly if he is able to manipulate and control voting during midterms. An intervention strategy is necessary.
This leader, leads by example. Smart messaging...
Perhaps touch on the likelihood that the administration is aware that using the military domestically will be problematic/illegal, and that the $170B budget to recruit ICE immigration control agents is more about assembling a personal army loyal to DJT under the guise of ICE as an alternative.

If Democrats ever want to take America back from Trump and his cronies, here are eight things they must do. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzc5...
What Democrats SHOULD Be Doing
YouTube video by Robert Reich
www.youtube.com
3/3:
MAGA is deaf to Democrats, academics, "experts"...but they will listen to the words of "icons" like Reagan. Find those quotes, expose DJT's lies, and in this way divide and conquer, and undermine his authoritarian takeover.
2/3: Using the words of historic figures to dispute and expose DJT's lies is precisely a strategy that MAGA is susceptible to. The anger that Trump demonstrated when he was caught lying about tariffs by the Ontario ad, shows what he fears most - being exposed by the very people he misrepresents.
1/3: When companies want to sell a product - they advertise. Democrats need to relentlessly use ads to split Trump's base. The Ontario ad that used Ronald Reagan's own words to denounce tariffs is a perfect example. There are many more Reagan/other examples that could run as TV ads?
More likely that the administration is aware that this may be illegal, hence the $170B budget to recruit a personal army loyal to DJT under the guise of ICE and immigration control.
And the anti-DJT strategy should be to show Americans examples of this and to demonstrate his blatant manipulation of facts. The Ontario ad that used Ronald Reagan's own words to denounce tariffs was very effective. Surely there are many more examples that could run as TV ads? Why not exploit this?
Is it not plausible that Bessent did not want to say when the additional 10% tariffs on Canada would be implemented because DJT has announced that this tariffs is in response to a TV commercial, and this would be further evidence that tariffs are political tools (retribution) not for Nat'l Emerg?

2024 CAMPAIGN TRUMP:

“I’m not going to start a war, I’m going to stop the wars.”

2025 PRESIDENT TRUMP:

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet.”
"Fast, vicious, and sweet". Often narcissists do not have the capacity for compassion, empathy, love, or any higher order emotion. They are only capable of primitive anger. This affective deficit enables sexual assaults, divorces...and most often a focus on themselves & certainly not Americans.

Q: "They did vote to pass a bipartisan resolution to block Trump's global tariffs. Justin, what does that mean?"

A: "Signs of life. Who knew we had a Senate?"
AI eh?
"Employment growth is stuck and wage growth is slowing, especially among low-paying jobs. Loan delinquencies are rising, driving an increase in bankruptcies. Consumer confidence has collapsed. And reckless policymaking [tariffs] is taking its toll"

Once the AI bubble pops, we’ll all suffer. Could that be better than letting it grow unabated?
The world will be pushed into a recession, but perhaps we can build something more promising from the pieces

Interesting that the US would attempt to install a pro-democracy leader at the same time that they are replacing democracy with authoritarianism in America. Surely there is much more to this story.
They stood-by while the IDF starved Palestinians and used that as a negotiating tactic, why not the same for Americans.
It appears that DJT's manic episodes occur around the same time most evenings. Perhaps a dose of lithium carbonate with dinner may alleviate this distress.

Every authoritarian action Trump is taking must be understood against the backdrop of his declining popularity.

He feigns strength, but he's operating from a place of weakness.

Remember this.
1/2 Reagan,1987:
"Now, that message of free trade is one I conveyed to Canada's leaders a few weeks ago, and it was warmly received there. Indeed...there's a growing realization that the way to prosperity for all nations is rejecting protectionist legislation and promoting fair and free competition"
