It took me 10 years to save up like $2k in a small investment account. Then your chronic illness gets too bad to work and that amount is gone in a month just from rent, food, util. So it’s not nothing, but it’s nowhere near enough either.

If you only have $5 a month to invest, it’ll take a lifetime at least before it’ll pay your rent. Not saying it’s not worth doing. I have such an account that I toss a few $ in when I can. But unless you get paid enough to chuck in hundreds, it’s not going to help any time soon.

WILL GERMAN REUNIFICATION HURT TRANSSEXUAL RIGHTS?
Now that East and West Germany are being united into one country, the laws concerning transsexuals and sex change operations are being re-evaluated. East Germany scores higher on transsexual rights than West Germany, but East Germany's more humane laws may not prevail in the new reunited country. As it stands now in East Germany, men and women 18 years and older have been able to receive govern-ment-sponsored sex reassignment surgery, get married and adopt children. According to Professor Goerlich of East Germany, who spoke at a meeting on the subject in Hamburg, in two cases a transsexual mother gained custody of her adopted children after a divorce. Goerlich plans to fight to retain these more liberal laws in the future Germany.

It’s possible to invest even with just like $5, but obviously you won’t get much return for it.

Those few with real money can benefit from financial knowledge, but for most of us working class organizing is the only way.

It’s true that financial literacy is important in this economy, but it’s also true that if you’re not allowed much income then most of finance is irrelevant. Your finances end up being limited to “how can I pay the rent and not be homeless?”

I’m 66, w. other risk factors, & go back to the classroom next week.

I wonder if some of it isn’t relationship possessiveness for a fictional character being expressed in terms of the commodify everything ideology we all grow up in too.

Like they know it’d be weird to say “No, Shtola is *my* char’s gf so she can’t be yours!” so it gets expressed this way instead.
