The IRS just said churches can now endorse political candidates without losing tax-exempt status, effectively reversing the Johnson Amendment, which has banned political endorsements by tax-exempt groups since 1954. If churches want to play politics, tax them.

History isn’t supposed to be comfortable. It’s supposed to be honest. We don’t learn from a past we pretend didn’t happen. Rewriting our history doesn’t protect us. It makes us weaker. And more likely to repeat the very mistakes they don’t want us to remember.

Oligarchies often appear strongest just before they crack. Attempts to maintain absolute control create conditions that spur transformation. They may fall from revolution but they're more likely to fall from infighting. Look for leaders to arise from outside their systems. Create new systems now.
