Have you ever had a goofy idea take such hold of your mind that you end up buying a button-making machine and spend hours making design templates?

Well, I have.

I figure I’ll offer cats, dogs, horses, two types of boats, & specific musical instruments once I sort out pricing & Etsy options.
Yeah, my “negativity” tended to be: whether our software was capable of doing what the project would involve, whether there was enough time before the proposed deadline, and other potential pitfalls.
Instead, we tended to fall into all of them, change things “as needed,” and finish behind schedule.
Good grief. I was unfailingly direct and also spoke up often (but only had my points truly heard/absorbed if my male friend did everyone a favor and repeated them). I believe one of my employee reviews said both that I needed to speak more in meetings yet also I was too “negative.”
And a misinformed/uninformed one. Actually getting out and speaking with people, discussing things in a fact-based and “how this affects us all in our everyday lives” way can bring out a lot of shared beliefs (particularly re: “healthcare is a human right” and “society should help, not hurt”).

Folks - let them think this. I’ve spent 25 years doing campaigns - when you think like this after a loss like last night, you are doomed to lose again.
Mike Johnson: "What happened last night is blue states and blue cities voted blue. We all saw that coming. And no one should read too much into last night's election results."
Came here to say this. I wonder how many meltdowns/crises he might be having because of the “unfamiliar environment” so they’re making all these changes to try to soothe him.
And now signage, because maybe he’s wandering more and getting lost.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.
“I am not here to make a careful comprehensive argument*[…]If you’re pushing slop or eating it, you wouldn’t read it anyway. You’d ask a bot for a summary & forget what it told you, then proceed with your day, unchanged by words you did not read & ideas you did not consider.”

“I do understand: you want permission... You gave one to your teacher and they didn’t notice. Your boss told you to use it after they laid off half the team and it was fine. You fed one to your kids and they liked it.”

I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

Animators would add little touches—I can think of so many examples there’s probably no reason to list any, since we can all imagine little differences in expression, gesture, interactions between the characters, etc. And AI can’t. Because it can’t imagine.
Yeah, I feel like in most ways this describes my dad—and while he started out a Republican, after Nixon (first term, I think?) he was a Democrat. Head of a state Vocational Rehabilitation department, helped w/ the ADA, and his whole deal was to make life better for people. Never grievance.
I wouldn’t have said or even thought this a few years ago, but they are so far gone into avarice that they’ve created their own hierarchy of who even deserves to exist—and if you qualify as “don’t” they want you to suffer for daring to continue to do so.

I'm taking a big chance by moving from Substack to Ghost and I could use some help. Please share widely.
I consistently made the wrong choices. If it was possible to end the story at the first choice, that’s what happened. And again at the second, the third, etc.
I think I’ve done all right in life, but geez, maybe not? My career isn’t anything like I’d hoped, for one.
Such a good price right now! And that’s the web store I used. They’ve got other cake decorations so whether you make or buy yourself a cake, you can do it up in glorious, childlike-glee chaos.
I make a grabbing motion, which causes all the pieces to hit one another and the bowl—or if they’ve only been out an hour I’ll put them back in my little keep-fresh mini container and shake it around—for exactly the same reason.
My cat is a grazing “social eater.” Sometimes he just needs me to be with him by his food. Sometimes at 4:30am (which can be him wanting canned food Breakfast but lately he first takes me to the kibble that’s been there all night).
He also is very picky about “freshness” & manipulative re: treats.

Last chance to turn it off.

On Monday, November 3rd, Microsoft will start using your LinkedIn data for AI training. And remember, you're opted in by default.

To toggle it off 👉 Account - Settings & Privacy > Data privacy > Data for Generative AI Improvement.
Might just be me, but I have more trouble pronouncing McWhorter…yet I could probably find even that easier after a few practice tries.

I’ve been getting them too — all gushing praise for a book that isn’t one of mine. Mostly the person loves it so much because of its [list of qualities] and wants to help it reach a wider audience, but one purported to be from a book club — and those details didn’t match with the actual club’s info.
Ooooh, nicely played, latest emailer. A gracious and complimentary reply followed by a “do you happen to be a writer, you have to tone of one” when my books and website and social media are probably still the most likely to show up under a search.

Sorry, no budget for promotion.
Dear People Who Email to Offer to Promote a Book Which Is Not Mine,

What the f**k are you doing and what associates my email with that book?

I’d be less angry if you presented as human by sending an “oops, sorry to bother, thank you for telling me I had the wrong info” but none of you ever do.
