On August 27, 2025, Typepad announced it would shut down on September 30, 2025.

I missed the one month notification window, so my entire 20 year old work blog and accompanying tech blog vanished without a downloaded backup.

My personal blog on Wordpress continues.

You can get El eternauta 1969 / The Eternaut, the Argentinian Spanish graphic novel that inspired the Netflix series,

However be aware it is in Argentinian Spanish, it's not an English translation.

New Saga 強くてニューサーガ 1x07 is more along the lines of what I was expecting. Lots of positioning and using wealth to alter the balance of power.

Some nice humour too.

Karate Kid: Legends (2025) is ok.

Don't go in expecting a Cobra Kai movie though.

It's actually mostly a Ben Wang (character Li Fong) movie. Even Jackie Chan takes a long time to show up, and Ralph Macchio just towards the end.

I wouldn't have done the final Macchio aftercredits scene.

A lot happened in Turkey Time ( 「Turkey!」 ) 1x06.

You can now see very clearly that the underlying theme of the show is about group identity and self-sacrifice for the benefit of the group, versus individuality.

Also a lot of dynamics were added in 1x06 in terms of twists and style shifts.

There seems to be an issue with Fafner (2004) on Crunchyroll.

As far as I can tell 1x02 is basically the same episode as 1x01.

The events aren't in exactly the same sequence, but it's the same events and scenes.

Project Blue Earth SOS ( Project BLUE 地球 SOS ) is ok. It ends weakly. I'm surprised at how low the ratings are though.

It's a very 1950s story, with a bit more insight into the nature of aliens than usual.

It's basically as if you made a few Tom Swift Jr. books into an anime.

I wonder if, after anime production went all-digital circa 2001, the future didn't feel futuristic enough anymore.

Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars / Record of the School Wars: MURYOU 学園戦記ムリョウ (2001) is basically the last television anime done with traditional cel animation.

Am I going through Wikipedia 20xx in Anime year-by-year?

Yes, yes I am.

There are a lot of them that aren't on Crunchyroll, at least in the 200x's.

If you're wondering "where are all the space / science fiction / future-set Japanese anime?" so far my answer is they started to fade out by about 2005.

Before that, lots of SF. After that, a jumble of genres. After that, all isekai 異世界 / Middle Ages-y knights & kings & dragons, all the time.

Enjoying 2006's Project Blue Earth SOS (Project BLUE 地球SOS) so far.

Wikipedia calls it a retro-futuristic 90s. It is an adaptation of a novel by science fiction illustrator Shigeru Komatsuzaki, written between 1948 and 1951.

I would say it's kind of aliens vs. James Bond + Johnny Quest x2.
