Being able bodied is always a temporary privilege. Whether by age, illness, accident, climate catastrophe, or class exploitation- we will all become disabled.

Disability justice is a struggle for liberation that frees and cares for all of us.

Sex work is work & like all labor under a capitalist system of stolen labor it's fraught with exploitation.

All exploitative work is a matter of the body. It's not more dignified/moral to be used & disposed of doing underpaid factory, cleaning, or agricultural work - making billionaires richer.

Islam is a religion of justice. You either find that terrifying or deeply comforting and either way you're right.

A carceral relationship with the body is a reflection of white supremacist dominator culture.

We have to reject the return to the nothing-tastes-as-good-as-skinny-feels era of disordered eating, fascist wellness trends & assigning individual blame for systemic conditions.

You can have more than a truce with your body. You cannot hate or punish your body into being "better" (read: skinnier, prettier, stronger, younger, abled.)

A compliance based relationship with your body is a carceral one.

The "Canadians" leaving hateful, xenophobic, and racist "SUPPORT CANADIANS FIRST" comments under every feel-good story about mutual aid going to folks suffering abroad or to support a minoritized community within Canada are exactly the people to do fuck all for their own community in a crisis.

I'm reviewing the book in an episode podcast this Sunday. A must read for any socialist, Palestine solidarity organizer, and trade unionists!

Our ability to critique the system & to identify all that is failing around us only the tip of the iceberg.

Developing the skills to bypass the system, build community infrastructure & navigate messy dynamics/contentious relationships is the bulk of the work.

I am not young, but I am too young to have buried so many of my comrades, contemporaries & kin. I have been to more funerals for people in my generation than the number of years I've been alive.

A lot of people in Canada are fighting tooth & nail to hold on to the colonial fantasy of "Canada the peace keeper." Starting with the fallacy of a kinder settled colonialism, a gentler slavery & to a polite contemporary imperialism.

No condition of unfreedom is "nicer" or more "peaceful."

I called for a Canadian arms embargo and trade restrictions on the UAE until it stops funding the RSF and for Canadian weapons manufacturers to be held accountable for their complicity in the Senate today, I also called for Canada to adopt bill c-233 (1/4)

One day, we will have to face the intergenerational wound left by the mass sexual violence used as a weapon of war against Sudanese people, especially women. We have to confront the cultures of shame that prevent us from holding survivors & facing that trauma. The scale of it is going to floor us.

All the Ivy Leagues currently targeting Black people & those speaking up for Palestine are protecting the likes of serial abusers like summers & silencing those harmed & abused by them.

Alice was generous through and through. Especially in preparing us for her death & leaving us with so many beautiful gifts.

Almost daily, one of the countless inconceivable horrors of Sudan's war overwhelms again.

The scavengers & birds of prey who did not migrate in search of food as they do every year because the martyrs fed them to abundance.

The blood-soaked earth in El-Fasher, which can be seen from outer space.

Every tyrant & every empire never conceives its own demise & still they crumble. No system of injustice is natural, inevitable, or eternal.

The subjects of those emails are actual people - some of whom were children. Survivors and some who did not/will not survive because in the face of such violence & trauma, sometimes death comes the long way. Some we know & most we'll never come to know. Move with care.

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
