This is interesting. I'd known that conversations/meetings had been studied (where iirc ~something like if women talk 20% of the time, they are seen by men as hogging speaking time).
But I didn't know even their mere presence in a space had been studied with similar results! :\

Geena Davis heads or is a significant part of an advocacy group that studies women in media and they came at almost the exact same number for women: 19%. When women comprise 19% of people in a room, show, movie, whatever they're seen as an "equal" amount, when they are 50% they are "majority".

the ADA was probably the last piece of great bipartisan American legislation on civil rights, and it's fiercely under attack from a deeply ableist administration. But it's a great achievement!

Here's quality of life: took my wheelchair-bound 90 year old mother to city sponsored event at a local park. They had a handicap accessible port-a-potty! Wheeled her right in! We had the best time, just like everyone else, that meant so much to us!

The beauty of the ADA is something I try to remind people about (non annoyingly) because curb cutouts and closed captioning getting better are all thanks to making things more accessible. I would be lost without my subtitles.
