Dear World Leaders,

If you ever wondered what you would’ve done to stop Adolf Hitler, you’re doing it right now.

Is there an expert in political communication on Bluesky who can explain why the Democrats are so profoundly ineffective at communicating?

The response to Venezuela is Exhibit A of my claim.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we have a DNC chair who actually believed he was head of an opposition party.
Democratic leadership badly fumbling the response so far. Shocking right?
They’re denouncing Trump but it’s usually around the sixth paragraph. Enough throat clearing. The president is out of control and the opposition party needs to act like it.

If major media outlets would like us to stop constantly criticizing them for normalizing the lawless authoritarianism & being played like a fiddle by the fascists, one easy way to do this would be for them to stop normalizing the lawless authoritarianism & being played like a fiddle by the fascists.

Munich underscored a failure to contain a bully. When WWII began the reaction by many was to declare neutrality as if that would save them.

Venezuela is Trump’s Munich. Failure to react appropriately at the international level will only invite more of the same.

If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up.

But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

„In other words, no country is actually sovereign. Nations gets to keep their governments only as long as the U.S. says so. Under those circumstances, it’s difficult to see why any country would trust the United States to negotiate with it in good faith, or to honor any agreement it makes.“
The Coup In Venezuela Is An Assault on the Whole World
Donald Trump's overthrow of Nicolás Maduro sets a terrible precedent that severely erodes international sovereignty. Can other countries depose any leader they accuse of a crime?

Venezuela is Trump’s Munich moment. With no pushback he will then go for Cuba or Greenland. The occupation of Venezuela will be a disaster but that won’t stop him from making his next move anyway. He’s any agent of chaos.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

So what do you think the final cost of this "invasion" will be? $100,$150 Billion? Because that is the cost of the ACA subsidies, the ones cut on the same day we invaded Venezuela.
Congratulations MAGA your "Peace President" took your health care money and used it to illegally start a fucking war.

A word of warning: be very wary about spin on what's happening from small/anonymous accounts today.

Reminder that propaganda and disinformation will flourish in this moment.

For instance, I'm extremely suspicious of reports RN that this was a "negotiated exit" by Maduro. You don't bomb Caracas

How many of the world’s problems could be solved if the USA had a history of using its power to support democracy rather than tearing it down? This intervention in Venezuela is symptomatic of failure not success.

The “wasting money” argument doesn’t work anymore. See for example: everything Trump has done this year.

Heads up that this is authorization for Trump to create his own version of the Wagner Group. Which would bring the number of “armies” at his disposal to four:

*regular armed forces (most regulated)
*ICE (minimally regulated)
*private mercenaries (?)
*MAGA thugs/militias (rogue)

All pardonable
