Great web hosting performance is seldomly as simple as picking a well-known provider and assuming the rest takes care of itself.

This is why:

Your “Fast” Hosting Might Still Be the Problem
Often times when I’m doing performance reviews for WordPress sites, the topic of what’s fast WordPress hosting comes up. Often times, when I learn their hosting is limited in a great many different ways, I suggest to look at hosting alternatives. When I’m then told, “I’m on good hosting, so it must be something else,” […]

WordPress people: I need your help.

I've had this post in draft for quite a while (years in fact 😅), but I thought it was time to finish it and publish it. This post is meant to literally be the ultimate guide to debugging WordPress.

And I need your help to make sure it is.

You know what's annoying as hell... not having a voice. I did a live stream yesterday and I could feel my voice go at the end, but I had hoped a good night's sleep would've fixed it.

Alas. I have a few more modules to record for my Make WordPress Fast course, so I'll have to pause that for a bit :/

Everybody is looking for performance, but people want a shortcut to thinking.

They want someone to hand them a list of “good” plugins and “bad” plugins so they can copy-paste their way to a fast site. As if performance were a recipe, not a craft.

I joined my friend Kevin Geary for one of his WDD live streams. We talked about the philosophy of performance (for WordPress) and how to make BLAZING FAST WordPress sites.

I want to talk WordPress and Security with you. I see a lot of misinformation in this field, so I wrote about it.

How To Do WordPress & Security
Security in the context of WordPress is a topic I see being misrepresented often. Misrepresented in the way that “just install our solution” is presented as the golden ticket. It’s not. Let’s get this out of the way first: installing a “WordPress security plugin” doesn’t make your site secure. Most of the WordPress solutions out […]

Looking for feedback. I've pre-launched my Make WordPress Fast course a few weeks back, but I've got more courses lined up. Which one should I prioritize? Please let me know by replying your preference.

1. Git for WP Builds
2. Unlock WP CLI
3. Cloudflare for WP
4. Fix WP w/ Query Monitor

I’m going to walk you through exactly how I approach diagnosing performance issues on a WordPress site.

It’s fast, it’s methodical, and it tells me 90% of what I need to know in under 15 minutes.

How I Diagnose WordPress Performance Bottlenecks
Most performance advice you’ll find is either overly generic or hyper-specific to someone else’s stack. And yet diagnosing the actual reason your WordPress site feels slow doesn’t have to take hours or even a dev team. In fact, once you understand how WordPress interacts with your server, your database, your plugins, and the browser, spotting […]

If the TTFB of your WordPress site is over 500 ms, you should dig into the server setup first.

The TTFB basically tells me how long it takes for the server to process the request to render a given URL. It’s super important to test this uncached.

What does Wapuu do?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
It doesn’t boost SEO.
It doesn’t compress images.
It doesn’t even have a block editor opinion.
It just sits there, hugging its WordPress orb like it knows the secret to the custom post type apocalypse.
