Hello and bonjour from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Chasing blue skies over here because even this pluviophile needs clear skies, and both rain and sun make things grow. Always learning; keeping life + business simple; minimizing plastic waste + ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption.
Only $575?? Please add a couple of zeroes. Some insulated jackets cost more.

Tough garden decision to make: This bed was dedicated to raspberries for the last 4 yrs. I ❤️ raspberries during the few wks they’re in season, but it’s essentially lost real estate for the rest of the year. No plans to get another bed + no intention/place to move them to in-ground. Keep or not? 😵‍💫

Am planning a little #bikepacking trip that will be more #plasticfree. Will pack these. I tried one; it’s not bad at all, just different.

Finally addressing the bigger landscaping at home to address FireSmart BC recommendations. It'll all happen in phases, but the first key steps are done - it's been preying on my mind for years. Best of all, we removed enough tall growth near the house to open up the garden to more light!

All I did in the garden today was prune away dead strawberry leaves and geranium stems to welcome the new green growth. And the next door neighbours don’t know it, but I dug up and potted up chives and parsley for them.

In addition to the green onion survivalists, I noticed a few crocuses blooming in the front yard, like, randomly in the yard among the grass. Squirrels be gardening? 😉
A stand of green onions are still intact and green after our winter. This is why I greatly appreciate veg that can be "stored" in-ground for a while rather than harvesting them and deciding whether to dehydrate, freeze, or consume right away. So far, green onions/scallions do this really well.

+1. Even before any boycotts, this simple life approach achieves abundance so much more than mindless consumerism.
If you're boycotting Amazon, Target, Walmart et al, you can find what you want somewhere else. And if you can't...

Whoops, methinks I got overexcited about starting seeds and sowed my sunflowers waaay too soon. I don’t think I can maintain these pretties for the next few months at the rate they are growing. I sowed them just 1.5 wks ago. Rechecking my 2024 garden journal… I didn’t sow them until late April! 😆

1/2: Further comparisons in dealing with and healing from narcissistic assaults: Regardless of whether a narcissist delivers on a future-faking threat or promise (good or bad), it's best to resume/redirect your life without any further engagement.

Always happy to see people arrive at exploring cooking, reducing waste, doing without, delaying gratification, rethinking their purchases, etc. via different pathways. If envt’l concern wasn’t conviction enough, then #ElbowsUp + #BuyCanadian are solid entry points, too! Bienvenue et bon appètit!

Why Are People Wearing Masks in 2025?

Source: archive.md/gXsmD

Decided just to sow seeds this weekend, in the garden and in my brain (with all those library books). Need to service my mtb before the next ride.

Yesterday, the narcissistic masks fell off to reveal more. Those who fawned may have been shocked by the D.A.R.V.O. displays. Those with lived experiences saw it coming years in advance; no one listened. So, how’s your newfound “lived experience” coming along?

The sooner and deeper people learn to wise up to narcissistic tactics (in all of their iterations and apply it to scale), the better. Sadly, that kind of learning is only through lived experiences, but class is in session. There’s currently a massive group demo in the fawning response.

Where my brain is going this weekend. And sowing seeds. And hitting the trails via mtb. What’s on deck for you?

On the list of options:
1) remove raspberries to free up a raised bed;
2) a smaller (or forgo) sunflower patch to free up real estate;
3) go hard with more containers/grow bags.
My 2-bed “allotment” at a friend’s farm is going to be used by her daughter this season. I was lucky to have had use of that space last year. Am shifting my home garden plans now… what shall I edit out?

Listening to a few youtube videos. It's a bit energy-draining when the audio is edited such that there's no "breath" between statements. Are there no natural pauses? Is this a thing now? It's tiring to follow what is essentially an auditory run-on sentence that lasts for the whole 20 min. 🤨
